How to get a successful logo print
When applying logo marks on clothes, there are several factors that will affect the result. The quality of the transfer itself is of course important, but there are also some other factors that are crucial for the result to be successful.
Temperature - time - pressure
According to Terje Teigen, district manager for Central and Northern Norway, there are three teas that are important to have control over - temperature, time and pressure. - The temperature melts the glue, the time determines how much time the glue has to adhere to the fabric and the pressure determines how well the glue is pressed into the fabric's fibers. At too low a temperature the glue will not get well enough into the fabric, and at too high a temperature the chance of a large heat mark on the fabric will be present.
It is important that temperature, time and pressure interact with the properties of the fabric. - Sportswear and workwear can use the same transfer marks, but the application will be different, says Teigen.
The most common mistake
Teigen is in daily contact with customers, and sometimes he experiences that they have challenges with the application. The most common "mistake" is that customers use two plates of different sizes, and then one of them is printed incorrectly. The pressure must be adapted to the size of the plate, says Teigen.
Expert tips
- The best thing is to do it right the first time. Feel free to use a little extra time before starting the actual application. Our logo marks are only semi-finished products, the end result depends on how good a job has been done during the application.
- We test all transfer marks we send to our customers. The marks are attached to three different fabric types and to different settings on the press, before being washed 10 times at 60 degrees. In the event of an error, the customer is contacted, the marks are withdrawn and the customer receives new ones. - Fortunately, this happens very rarely, Teigen concludes.
